Another Sinaran student wins scholarship
Sean Ferdinand Ng Yew Kit, one of the top achievers in the June 2012 Cambridge GCE A Levels with 2A* & 1A has been awarded a full scholarship to study Law in University of Hull, UK.
Sean is the third Sinaran student to win Hull scholarships. Back in 2008, Lin Wee Khang won a full Hull scholarships for Pharmaceutical Science. He has since graduated and is presently doing post graduate studies at the renowed Oxford University, UK.
In 2011, Yap Yong Yi, another top Sinaran student won the Hull scholarship to do Chemistry.
Sean, a former La Salle Secondary School student joined the institute in January 2011 to do the Cambridge GCE A Levels as he believed that it is the best internationally recognized pre-u programme. Sean like many others did not want to waste time waiting for the SPM results to be released in March and therefore joined the institute for the January intake, using his SPM forecast school results.
When interviewed, Sean said "I am so delighted to receive the scholarship as I know that I have just lifted a heavy burden off my parents's shoulders.
My experience in the institute has given me the opportunity to broaden my horizon. With the experienced lecturers and conducive learning environment, Institut Sinaran is an ideal centre for providing quality education.
I want to dedicate my biggest thank you towards my parents who have always been my back bone through all these years and also to all my lecturers who had guided and supported me all the way through my time in the institute.
My hope for the future is to see Institut Sinaran as a globally recognized institution, able to attract students from all corners of the country if not the world. I also hope that more students will continue their studies locally in KK to enjoy home based advantages and not leave for West Malaysia and elsewhere immediately after SPM. This will enable them to focus more on their studies as they will not have to cope with living away from the comforts of home so soon".
Institut Sinaran was started in 1987 by the Hakka Association Kota Kinabalu to provide affordable, internationally recognized pre-u programmes locally -Cambridge GCE A Levels, South Australian Matriculation and Diploma in Commerce.
Application is now open for 2 January, 2013 intake for all three programmes.
Interested students are advised to apply as soon as possible using their school trial examination or forecast results to secure a place.
